Night & Day in Las Vegas

After wending our way across the Mojave, we finally arrived in Las Vegas. We had booked a room in the Monte Carlo with a strip view that we thought was a steal. We certainly never expected the hotel to be as luxurious as it was.

It was twilight when we arrived. Here are some views from our room:

We fought over who got to take the first shower, but eventually we got ready and headed out for our night on the town. We only had jeans so we fell a little underdressed, but it was still awesome. Our first stop was the Bellagio, to see the Dale Chihuly in the lobby and the famous fountains.

We also this really cool chocolate eagle:

Then we headed across the street to the Paris casino. We wanted to try their buffet, but unfortunately we were five minutes too late. However, I won $75 playing slots, so it worked out okay in the end.

We then walked back along the strip to our hotel, which was actually a pretty long walk. In the morning, we spent some time floating on the lazy river in the hotel's pool area before heading out of town.

We drove over the Hoover Dam and stopped briefly at an overlook on the Arizona side. It was VERY hot, so we didn't want to walk around too much. But we got some nice shots of the dam and then took off towards the Grand Canyon.
