I've now for sure finalized (I really mean it) my summer trip itinerary. I made a few changes to save some money and gas and add in a few national parks (although I had to take out some others). I still want to one day do a trip all the way across I-10, up through central California and then the Oregon coast to Washington State, returning via I-94 to hit all the more northern national parks, including Banff & Jasper in Alberta. But for this summer, here's the two-part plan:

So, who wants to come with me?
John Steinbeck had Charley; I embark on amazing adventures with my trusty car Ruby.

2011 Summer Travel Plans
In between getting ready to move and working, I've been busy planning my trips for this summer. I had posted an earlier version of a possible itinerary, but the plans below are now pretty well finalized.
Part 1: Southern Adventure (With a Side-Trip to the Bahamas!)
In which my mom & I will visit many splendorous, Southern cities, while pausing for a brief jaunt to the Bahamas.

Part 2: Go West, Young Lady! (PA to CA)
In which I will travel across the country, via many, many National Parks, reaching Monterey, CA, where I will then follow the PCH to San Diego.

Part 3: Homeward Bound (CA to PA)
In which, I will brave the heat of the Southwest in August and the flatness of the Great Plains during the height of tornado season to arrive safely back in PA in time for another scintillating school year.

Summer Trip Plans
So, even though it's not yet Christmas, I've decided to start planning next summer's vacation. That way, I know how much to save and also I have something to look forward to. My mom & I are planning a shorter trip in mid-June to Florida, but then I will be embarking on another cross-country extravaganza. My mission is to visit all 50 states, and by following this route, I will be one state away from my goal.
Here's the plan:
